Blessed John Munden
Blessed John Munden (also John Mundyn; born in Dorset, England; died February 12, 1584 AD at Tyburn, London, England) was an English Catholic priest who was executed during the persecution under Queen Elizabeth I. He was one of four priests martyred at Tyburn together on that day and is honored among the English Martyrs. His feast day is February 12.
A schoolmaster who left England to study for the priesthood on the Continent, John Munden returned to minister secretly to English Catholics. Arrested and condemned as a seminary priest under the Elizabethan penal laws, he was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Tyburn. He was beatified in 1886.

Biography
John Munden was born in Dorset, England, and became a schoolmaster and a fellow of New College, Oxford. When he refused to conform to the established religion, he lost his position, and he resolved to leave England in order to study for the Catholic priesthood.
He went to the English College at Reims, was ordained a priest, and returned to England to minister in secret to the Catholics who kept the faith under persecution. Under the Elizabethan penal laws, priests ordained abroad who came into the realm were treated as traitors, and to exercise the priesthood was a capital offense.
Munden was arrested and imprisoned. On February 12, 1584, he was executed at Tyburn—hanged, drawn, and quartered—together with three other priests, Blessed George Haydock, Blessed James Fenn, and Blessed Thomas Hemerford, and a fifth priest, Blessed John Nutter. All died for their priesthood and their fidelity to the Catholic Church.
John Munden was beatified on December 29, 1886, by Pope Leo XIII, among the English Martyrs. His feast is kept on February 12.
