Biography

John Kinsaco was a Japanese Catholic who lived during the era of Jesuit and Franciscan evangelization of Japan and the subsequent Tokugawa suppression of Christianity. His name "Kinsaco" is the European (Portuguese or Spanish) romanization of his Japanese personal name, recorded in 16th or 17th century missionary documents.

He was martyred for his Catholic faith during the Tokugawa persecutions, which systematically sought to eradicate Christianity from Japan through forced apostasy and execution.

He was beatified among the Martyrs of Japan. His feast day is September 10.
