Blessed John Davy
Blessed John Davy (born c. 1500 AD in England; died September 11, 1537 AD in London, England) was an English Catholic Carthusian monk of the London Charterhouse who died in prison from starvation and ill-treatment for refusing to acknowledge the royal supremacy of King Henry VIII. He is venerated among the Carthusian Martyrs of London beatified by Pope Leo XIII on December 9, 1886. His feast day is May 11 (with the London Charterhouse martyrs).

Biography
John Davy was born c. 1500 in England and became a Carthusian monk at the London Charterhouse (House of the Salutation of the Mother of God), the prestigious Carthusian monastery in London.
When Henry VIII required the Oath of Supremacy acknowledging him as Supreme Head of the Church of England, John Davy refused with the other resistant monks of the Charterhouse. After the execution of Prior John Houghton (May 4, 1535), those who still refused were imprisoned. John Davy was held in Newgate Prison, where he died of starvation and ill-treatment on September 11, 1537.
He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII on December 9, 1886, among the Carthusian martyrs of London. His feast day is May 11.
