Blessed John Buoni
Blessed John Buoni (born c. 1168 AD in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy; died October 23, 1249 AD near Mantua, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian Catholic hermit and founder whose community near Mantua was one of the groups later incorporated into the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine (Augustinians) in 1256. He lived as a court entertainer and minstrel before a dramatic conversion to the eremitic life. He was beatified by Pope Alexander IV in 1256. His feast day is October 23.

Biography
John Buoni (Giovannibono) was born c. 1168 in Mantua, Lombardy. He worked as a court entertainer — a minstrel or giullare — before undergoing a profound conversion around 1208 after a serious illness. He withdrew to a hermit's life near Mantua and attracted disciples.
His community of hermits followed the Rule of Saint Augustine. When Pope Alexander IV united several Italian hermit groups into the Order of Hermits of Saint Augustine (1256), John Buoni's community was incorporated, and Alexander IV simultaneously confirmed his existing cult.
He died October 23, 1249, near Mantua. His feast day is October 23.
