Blessed Jerome de Angelis
Blessed Jerome de Angelis (born c. 1568 AD in Castrogiovanni (Enna), Sicily, Italy; died December 4, 1623 AD in Edo (Tokyo), Japan) was a Sicilian-born Italian Catholic Jesuit priest who was martyred in Japan during the Tokugawa persecution. He is venerated among the martyrs of Japan. His feast day is December 4.

Biography
Jerome de Angelis was born c. 1568 in Castrogiovanni (Enna), Sicily. He entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was sent to Japan as a missionary, working covertly among the hidden Catholic community during the Tokugawa persecution.
He was captured and brought to Edo (present-day Tokyo), where he was burned at the stake on December 4, 1623, making his martyrdom one of the few in the Japan mission to take place in the shogunal capital.
His feast day is December 4.
