Blessed Jean Ménard (born c. 1756 AD in Anjou, France; died August 20, 1792 AD in Paris, France) was a French Catholic diocesan priest martyred during the September Massacres of the French Revolution. He is venerated among the martyrs of the French Revolution beatified by Pope John Paul II on February 19, 1984, among the 191 Martyrs of the French Revolution. His feast day is August 20.

Biography

Jean Ménard was born c. 1756 in Anjou, France. He was ordained a Catholic priest and served in the Anjou region.

During the French Revolution he refused to take the oath to the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. He was martyred in Paris on August 20, 1792, in the period preceding the September Massacres.

He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on February 19, 1984, among the 191 Martyrs of the French Revolution. His feast day is August 20.
