Blessed Jan Beyzym
Blessed Jan Beyzym (born May 15, 1850 AD in Beyzymy-Wielkie, Ukraine (then Russia); died October 2, 1912 AD in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar) was a Polish Catholic Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to the care of lepers in Madagascar, building a leprosarium and hospital for those suffering from leprosy. Known as the "Apostle of the Malagasy Lepers," he was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 26, 2002. His feast day is October 2.

Biography
Jan Beyzym was born May 15, 1850, in Beyzymy-Wielkie, Volhynia (then the Russian Empire). He entered the Jesuit Order in Kraków in 1872 and taught at Jesuit schools in Poland for over 20 years before requesting a mission to the lepers of Madagascar.
He arrived in Madagascar in 1898 and spent 14 years serving the lepers near Fianarantsoa, fundraising across Europe to build the Hospital of Our Lady of Lourdes at Marana — a leprosarium that provided care for hundreds of lepers. He is known as the "Apostle of the Malagasy Lepers."
He died October 2, 1912, in Fianarantsoa. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 26, 2002, in Kraków. His feast day is October 2.
