Blessed Jan Balicki (born January 25, 1869 AD in Staromieście, Galicia, Poland; died March 15, 1948 AD in Przemyśl, Poland) was a Polish Catholic diocesan priest and spiritual director known for his holiness, pastoral wisdom, and long ministry in Przemyśl. He served as a confessor and spiritual guide to thousands of people over his nearly 40-year ministry. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 26, 2002. His feast day is March 15.

Biography

Jan Balicki was born January 25, 1869, in Staromieście, near Przemyśl, in Galicia (then Austria-Hungary). He was ordained a priest in 1892 and spent his entire priestly ministry in the Diocese of Przemyśl, serving as a pastor, seminary professor, and spiritual director.

He was renowned for his ministry of the confessional — sitting for hours each day with extraordinary patience, mercy, and discernment, guiding thousands of people in their spiritual lives over nearly 40 years of active ministry.

He died March 15, 1948, in Przemyśl. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 26, 2002, in Kraków. His feast day is March 15.
