Blessed James the Almsgiver
Blessed James the Almsgiver (born c. 1238 AD in Mevania (Bevagna), Umbria, Italy; died January 15, 1301 AD in Mevania (Bevagna), Umbria, Italy) was an Italian Catholic layman and Franciscan tertiary known for his extraordinary charity to the poor and his miraculous almsgiving in Umbria. He was beatified by Pope Clement XI in 1710. His feast day is January 15.

Biography
James the Almsgiver was born c. 1238 in Bevagna (Mevania), Umbria. He was a Franciscan tertiary known throughout the region for his extreme generosity to the poor. Tradition records that he gave away so much that miraculous multiplication of his resources was attributed to him.
He died January 15, 1301, in Bevagna. He was beatified by Pope Clement XI. His feast day is January 15.
