Blessed James of Strepar
Blessed James of Strepar (born c. 1340 AD in Strepar, Galicia, Poland/Ukraine; died June 1, 1409 AD in Lviv, Galicia, Ukraine) was a Polish Catholic Franciscan friar who served as Archbishop of Halych and then as Archbishop of Lviv. He was known for his missionary work among the Eastern Orthodox and pagan peoples of Galicia and Volhynia and for his pastoral reform of his archdiocese. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 18, 2001. His feast day is June 1.

Biography
James of Strepar was born c. 1340 in Strepar, Galicia (then in the Kingdom of Poland, now in Ukraine). He entered the Franciscan Order and became part of the Franciscan mission in Poland and the Ruthenian lands.
He was appointed Archbishop of Halych and Lviv in 1392. He conducted extensive missionary journeys throughout Galicia and Volhynia, preaching to Orthodox Christians and pagans, baptizing converts, and reforming his archdiocese. He is sometimes called the "Apostle of Galicia."
He died June 1, 1409, in Lviv. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 18, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 1.
