Blessed James Sales
Blessed James Sales (born June 8, 1556 AD in Lezoux, Auvergne, France; died February 7, 1584 AD in Aubenas, Ardèche, France) was a French Catholic Jesuit priest who was martyred by Huguenots during the French Wars of Religion. He was seized while preaching and killed after a theological disputation with Calvinist pastors. He was beatified by Pope Pius IX on June 6, 1861. His feast day is February 7.

Biography
James Sales was born June 8, 1556, in Lezoux, Auvergne. He entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and was ordained a priest. He conducted preaching missions in southern France during the French Wars of Religion.
In February 1584 he was captured by Huguenots at Aubenas, Ardèche, along with his lay brother companion William Saultemouche. After a forced theological disputation in which he defended the Catholic doctrine of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, he was killed on February 7, 1584.
He was beatified by Pope Pius IX on June 6, 1861. His feast day is February 7.
