Blessed James Griesinger
Blessed James Griesinger (born March 1, 1407 AD in Ulm, Swabia, Germany; died October 11, 1491 AD in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy), known as Blessed James of Ulm, was a German-born Catholic Dominican lay brother famed as a skilled glassmaker and artist who created magnificent stained glass windows for Dominican churches. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 27, 1998. His feast day is October 11.

Biography
James Griesinger was born March 1, 1407, in Ulm, Swabia, Germany. He worked as a soldier and carpenter before experiencing a religious conversion. He entered the Dominican Order in Bologna as a lay brother c. 1452, at approximately 45 years of age.
In the Dominican community at Bologna he devoted himself to creating stained glass windows, producing magnificent works for the Basilica of San Domenico and other Dominican churches. His windows, crafted in the late Gothic tradition, are among the finest examples of 15th-century stained glass in Italy.
He died October 11, 1491, in Bologna. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 27, 1998. His feast day is October 11.
