Blessed James Benfatti (born c. 1250 AD in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy; died November 20, 1332 AD in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian Catholic Dominican friar who served as Bishop of Mantua. Known for his charity to the poor and his reform of religious life in his diocese, he was beatified by Pope Pius VI on January 23, 1783. His feast day is November 20.

Biography

James Benfatti was born c. 1250 in Mantua, Lombardy. He entered the Dominican Order and became a noted preacher. He was appointed Bishop of Mantua and served his diocese with great charity, distributing alms to the poor, visiting the sick, and reforming religious houses.

He died November 20, 1332, in Mantua. He was beatified by Pope Pius VI on January 23, 1783. His feast day is November 20.
