Blessed James Bell
Blessed James Bell (born c. 1520 AD in Warrington, Lancashire, England; died April 20, 1584 AD in Manchester, Lancashire, England) was an English Catholic secular priest who was martyred during the Elizabethan persecution for exercising priestly functions. He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII on May 13, 1895, among the 54 Martyrs of England and Wales. His feast day is April 20.

Biography
James Bell was born c. 1520 in Warrington, Lancashire. He was ordained a Catholic priest before the English Reformation. Under Queen Elizabeth I he conformed outwardly to the Elizabethan Church but was later reconciled to the Catholic faith and resumed exercising priestly functions.
He was arrested for the felony of exercising priestly functions under Elizabethan law, convicted, and executed by hanging, drawing, and quartering at Manchester on April 20, 1584.
He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII on May 13, 1895, among the 54 Martyrs of England and Wales. His feast day is April 20.
