Blessed Jakym Senkivskyj
Blessed Jakym Senkivskyj (born November 2, 1896 AD in Shchyrets, Galicia, Ukraine; died June 18, 1941 AD in Drohobych, Galicia, Ukraine) was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Basilian monk and priest who was martyred by the Soviet NKVD during the Soviet occupation of western Ukraine in 1941. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 26.

Biography
Jakym Senkivskyj was born November 2, 1896, in Shchyrets, near Lviv, in Galicia (then Austria-Hungary). He entered the Order of Saint Basil the Great (Basilians) of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and was ordained a priest, serving in the Basilian monastery at Drohobych.
During the first Soviet occupation of western Ukraine (1939-1941), he was arrested by the NKVD. As Soviet forces retreated before the German advance in June 1941, the NKVD carried out mass executions of political prisoners across western Ukraine. Jakym Senkivskyj was martyred at Drohobych on June 18, 1941.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine, among the 27 Martyrs of Ukraine and Belarus. His feast day is June 26.
