Blessed Ivan Ziatyk
Blessed Ivan Ziatyk (born December 26, 1899 AD in Odrekhova, Galicia, Ukraine; died May 17, 1952 AD in Cherlak, Siberia, Russia) was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest of the Redemptorist Congregation who was arrested by the Soviet authorities, convicted on false charges, and died in the Omsk labor camp in Siberia during the Soviet persecution of the Church. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 26.

Biography
Ivan Ziatyk was born December 26, 1899, in Odrekhova, Galicia (then Austria-Hungary, now in Poland). He entered the Redemptorist Congregation and was ordained a priest, serving in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic communities of Galicia.
Following the Soviet occupation of western Ukraine after World War II, the Greek Catholic Church was suppressed (1946). Ivan Ziatyk was arrested by the Soviet authorities in 1948, convicted of anti-Soviet activities on false charges, and sentenced to forced labor in Siberia.
He died May 17, 1952, in the labor camp at Cherlak in Omsk Oblast, Siberia, from the harsh conditions and mistreatment.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 26.
