Blessed Irmengard
Blessed Irmengard of Chiemsee (born c. 832 AD in Bavaria, Germany; died July 16, 866 AD in Frauenchiemsee, Bavaria, Germany) was a German Catholic Benedictine abbess, the daughter of King Louis the German (King of East Francia) and granddaughter of Emperor Louis the Pious. She governed the Benedictine convent on Fraueninsel (Ladies' Island) in the Chiemsee lake in Bavaria. She was beatified by confirmed local cult. Her feast day is July 16.

Biography
Irmengard of Chiemsee was born c. 832 in Bavaria, the daughter of King Louis the German (King of East Francia) and granddaughter of Emperor Louis the Pious. Following the Carolingian practice of dedicating royal daughters to the religious life, she was appointed abbess of the Benedictine Convent of Frauenchiemsee (Fraueninsel) on the Chiemsee lake in Bavaria.
She governed the ancient island convent, which had been founded by Duke Tassilo III c. 782, until her death.
She died July 16, 866, at Frauenchiemsee. The convent continues as an active Benedictine community and is a pilgrimage site for her veneration. Her feast day is July 16.
