Blessed Ignacy Franczuk (born April 4, 1920 AD in Kościaszyn, Poland; died September 26, 1943 AD in Siedlce, Poland) was a Polish Catholic layman who was martyred during the German occupation of Poland in World War II for sheltering Jewish people. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 13, 1999, among the 108 Martyrs of Poland. His feast day is June 12.

Biography

Ignacy Franczuk was born April 4, 1920, in Kościaszyn, Lublin Province. During the German occupation of Poland in World War II, he sheltered Jewish people at the risk of his own life. He was arrested by the German occupation authorities and executed September 26, 1943, in Siedlce.

He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Warsaw on June 13, 1999, among the 108 Martyrs of Poland — a group of priests, religious, and laypeople martyred during the German and Soviet occupations of World War II. His feast day is June 12.
