Blessed Hugh of Macon
Blessed Hugh of Mâcon (born c. 1080 AD in Poitiers, France; died October 10, 1151 AD in Pontigny, Burgundy, France) was a French Catholic Cistercian bishop who served as the first abbot of the Abbey of Pontigny and later as Bishop of Auxerre. A close associate of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, he was one of the great Cistercian bishops of the 12th century. He was beatified by confirmed local cult. His feast day is October 10.

Biography
Hugh of Mâcon was born c. 1080 in Poitiers. He entered the Cistercian Order and became the first abbot of the Abbey of Pontigny in Burgundy in 1114, governing it for 23 years. He was a close associate of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and one of the most prominent Cistercian figures of the 12th century.
In 1137, he was appointed Bishop of Auxerre, one of the oldest French sees. He governed the diocese until his death.
He died October 10, 1151, at Pontigny. His feast day is October 10.
