Blessed Hugh More
Blessed Hugh More (born c. 1563 AD in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England; died August 28, 1588 AD in London, England) was an English Catholic layman and martyr who was executed at Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, for having been reconciled to the Catholic Church. A convert, he was condemned under the statute making reconciliation to Rome a capital offense. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987, among the Eighty-five Martyrs of England and Wales. His feast day is August 28.

Biography
Hugh More was born c. 1563 in Grantham, Lincolnshire. He studied at Gray's Inn in London and subsequently converted to Roman Catholicism. Under the Elizabethan penal laws, reconciliation to the Catholic Church was a capital offense. He was arrested, condemned, and executed by hanging at Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, on August 28, 1588 — weeks after the defeat of the Spanish Armada.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987, among the Eighty-five Martyrs of England and Wales. His feast day is August 28.
