Blessed Hrosnata
Blessed Hrosnata (born c. 1160 AD in Bohemia, Czech Republic; died c. July 14, 1217 AD in Bohemia, Czech Republic) was a Czech Catholic Premonstratensian lay brother and nobleman who founded two Premonstratensian monasteries in Bohemia: Teplá Monastery for canons regular (1193) and Chotěšov Convent for canonesses. After the death of his wife and son, he became a lay brother at Teplá. He died in captivity after being kidnapped by robbers who demanded ransom. He is venerated as a martyr or confessor in the Czech Catholic tradition. His feast day is July 14.

Biography
Hrosnata (Hroznata) was born c. 1160 in western Bohemia. A nobleman, he participated in (or vowed to participate in) the Third Crusade (1189-1192) but was prevented from sailing to the Holy Land. In fulfillment of his crusade vow, he founded the Premonstratensian Abbey of Teplá in 1193, endowing it with his own lands and wealth. He later founded the Premonstratensian Chotěšov Convent for canonesses in 1202.
After the death of his wife and young son, he entered the religious life as a lay brother at his own foundation of Teplá. He was later kidnapped by robbers who demanded ransom, and died in captivity c. July 14, 1217.
He is venerated in the Czech Catholic tradition as a martyr or confessor. His feast day is July 14.
