Blessed Herluin
Blessed Herluin of Bec (born c. 999 AD in Normandy, France; died August 26, 1078 AD in Le Bec-Hellouin, Normandy, France) was a Norman Catholic knight who converted from military life to found the Abbey of Bec in Normandy — one of the most influential monasteries of the 11th century. His abbey produced two Archbishops of Canterbury: Lanfranc and Saint Anselm. His feast day is August 26.

Biography
Herluin was born c. 999 in Normandy, France. He served as a Norman knight before converting to religious life and founding the Abbey of Bec c. 1034. Despite being initially unlettered, he founded what became within a generation the most intellectually distinguished monastery in Christendom, drawing Lanfranc and Saint Anselm as teachers and abbots. He served as Bec's first abbot until his death.
He died August 26, 1078, at the Abbey of Bec. His feast day is August 26.
