Blessed Henry of Albano
Blessed Henry of Albano (born c. 1130 AD in France; died January 1, 1189 AD in Ariano Irpino, Campania, Italy) was a French-born Cistercian monk, cardinal-bishop of Albano, and papal legate who preached the Third Crusade. He was a close associate of Pope Alexander III and later of Pope Clement III. His feast day is January 1.

Biography
Henry of Albano (also Henry of Marcy) was born c. 1130 in France. He became a Cistercian monk and served as abbot of Hautecombe in Savoie (1160-1176). In 1179 he was appointed cardinal-bishop of Albano by Pope Alexander III.
He served as papal legate in southern France preaching against the Cathar heresy and was appointed to preach the Third Crusade following Saladin's capture of Jerusalem in 1187.
He died January 1, 1189, in Ariano Irpino, Campania, before the crusade armies departed. His feast day is January 1.
