Blessed Helen Guerra (born June 23, 1835 AD in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy; died April 11, 1914 AD in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy) was an Italian Catholic religious founder who established the Oblate Sisters of the Holy Spirit (also known as the Pink Sisters) in Lucca, Tuscany, dedicating her congregation to promoting devotion to the Holy Spirit. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 6, 1996. Her feast day is April 11.

Biography

Helen Guerra was born June 23, 1835, in Lucca, Tuscany. In 1882 she founded the Oblate Sisters of the Holy Spirit ("Pink Sisters") in Lucca, a congregation dedicated to educating girls and promoting devotion to the Holy Spirit.

She wrote a series of letters to Pope Leo XIII urging renewal of Holy Spirit devotion; Leo XIII responded with the encyclical Divinum Illud Munus (1897), on the Holy Spirit.

She died April 11, 1914, in Pisa. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 6, 1996. Her feast day is April 11.
