Blessed Guala
Blessed Guala of Bergamo (born c. 1175 AD in Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy; died September 3, 1244 AD in Astino, near Bergamo, Italy) was an Italian Dominican friar, bishop of Brescia, and a close associate of Saint Dominic himself. He was beatified by Pope Gregory XVI on October 22, 1836. His feast day is September 3.

Biography
Guala of Bergamo was born c. 1175 in Bergamo, Lombardy. He became one of the early Dominican friars and knew Saint Dominic personally. At the moment of Dominic's death (August 6, 1221), Guala reportedly received a vision of Dominic ascending to heaven in glory — a vision later cited in Dominic's canonization process.
He served as bishop of Brescia from 1229 to 1237. He then retired to the Monastery of Astino near Bergamo, where he died on September 3, 1244.
He was beatified by Pope Gregory XVI on October 22, 1836. His feast day is September 3.
