Blessed Gregory Lakota
Blessed Gregory Lakota (born January 31, 1883 AD in Holobutiv, Galicia, Austrian Empire [present-day Ukraine]; died November 5, 1950 AD in Abez, Komi ASSR, Soviet Union [present-day Russia]) was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic bishop who served as auxiliary bishop of Peremyshl (Przemyśl) and was martyred in a Soviet labor camp in the Komi Republic. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 26.

Biography
Gregory Lakota was born January 31, 1883, in Holobutiv, Galicia. He was ordained a Ukrainian Greek Catholic bishop and served as auxiliary bishop of Peremyshl (Przemyśl) from 1926 to 1945.
After the Soviet re-occupation of western Ukraine, he was arrested by the NKVD in 1945, convicted of anti-Soviet activity, and sent to the Abez corrective labor camp in the Komi Republic, above the Arctic Circle.
He died in the Abez Gulag camp on November 5, 1950, a martyr for the Catholic faith.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 27, 2001, in Lviv, Ukraine. His feast day is June 26.
