Blessed Godfrey of Cappenberg
Blessed Godfrey of Cappenberg (born c. 1097 AD in Cappenberg, Westphalia, Germany; died January 13, 1127 AD in Cappenberg Abbey, Westphalia, Germany) was a German Catholic nobleman who, as a young count, converted his ancestral castle of Cappenberg into the first Premonstratensian monastery in Germany under the influence of Saint Norbert of Xanten. He then became a Premonstratensian canon himself. His feast day is January 13.

Biography
Godfrey of Cappenberg was born c. 1097 as Count of Cappenberg in Westphalia. In 1122, deeply moved by the preaching of Saint Norbert of Xanten, he converted his ancestral castle of Cappenberg into the first Premonstratensian monastery in Germany and renounced his title.
He then entered the monastery himself as a Premonstratensian canon, embracing religious poverty and the canonical life.
He died January 13, 1127, at Cappenberg Abbey, at a young age. His feast day is January 13.
