Blessed Giovanna de Orvieto
Blessed Joan of Orvieto (born c. 1264 AD in Carnaiola, near Orvieto, Umbria, Italy; died July 23, 1306 AD in Orvieto, Umbria, Italy) was an Italian Catholic Dominican tertiary and mystic who lived in Orvieto, Umbria, and was renowned for her ecstasies, visions, and intimate union with Christ's Passion. She was beatified by Pope Benedict XV in 1908. Her feast day is July 23.

Biography
Joan of Orvieto (also known as Vanna of Orvieto) was born c. 1264 near Orvieto, Umbria, Italy. Orphaned young, she worked as a seamstress and became a Dominican tertiary in Orvieto, the richly Dominican and eucharistic city of central Italy.
She was renowned for prolonged ecstasies, visions of Christ's Passion, and deep mystical union with God. She drew the attention of Dominican spiritual directors and was a center of the active mystical movement in 14th-century Umbria.
She died July 23, 1306, in Orvieto. Her cult was confirmed by Pope Benedict XV in 1908. Her feast day is July 23.
