Blessed Gioacchino da Fiore
Blessed Joachim of Fiore (born c. 1135 AD in Celico, Calabria, Italy; died March 30, 1202 AD in San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria, Italy) was an Italian Catholic Cistercian abbot, mystic, and theologian whose visionary interpretation of Scripture and history — dividing all time into three ages (of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) — profoundly influenced medieval Christianity and is studied to this day. He founded the Florensian Order (Order of San Giovanni in Fiore). His feast day is May 29 (or March 30).

Biography
Joachim of Fiore was born c. 1135 in Celico, Calabria, Italy. After a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he entered the Cistercian Order, becoming abbot of Corazzo. He later sought a stricter life and founded the Florensian Order at San Giovanni in Fiore in the Calabrian highlands c. 1189.
He developed an influential theology of history based on three ages of the Trinity, was consulted by popes and kings for his prophetic interpretations of Scripture, and wrote extensively on the Book of Revelation and Daniel.
His cult was confirmed by Pope Celestine III. Dante placed him in Paradise among the great spirits of wisdom.
He died March 30, 1202, at San Giovanni in Fiore. His feast day is May 29.
