Blessed Giles of Saumur (born c. 1200 AD in Saumur, Anjou, France; died April 23, 1266 AD in Damietta, Egypt) was a French Catholic bishop, theologian, and crusader-bishop who served as Bishop of Damietta and Archbishop of Tyre in the Latin East and was renowned for his holiness and learning. He is venerated in the Dominican tradition. His feast day is April 23.

Biography
Giles of Saumur was born c. 1200 in Saumur, Anjou, France. He became a Dominican theologian and was appointed Bishop of Damietta in 1241, then Archbishop of Tyre (in the Latin East) in 1253 — one of the most prestigious ecclesiastical posts in the Crusader world.
He served the Catholic Church in the Latin East during the tumultuous later Crusading period, combining the roles of bishop, theologian, and pastoral shepherd in the contested territories of the eastern Mediterranean.
He died April 23, 1266, in Damietta, Egypt. His feast day is April 23.
