Blessed Giacomo Cusmano
Blessed Giacomo Cusmano (born March 15, 1834 AD in Palermo, Sicily, Italy; died March 14, 1888 AD in Palermo, Sicily, Italy) was a Sicilian Italian Catholic physician, priest, and founder who devoted himself to the service of the poorest of the poor in Palermo, Sicily, founding the Missionary Servants of the Poor (Bocconi) and the Missionary Sisters of the Poor. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 30, 1983. His feast day is March 14.

Biography
Giacomo Cusmano was born March 15, 1834, in Palermo, Sicily. He qualified as a physician in 1855 and was ordained a priest in 1860, combining his medical and priestly vocations in service to the poor.
He founded the practice of the "boccone del povero" — systematic food redistribution from the wealthy to the destitute — and in 1867 founded the Missionary Servants of the Poor (Bocconi) and in 1880 the Missionary Sisters of the Poor.
He devoted the rest of his life entirely to the poorest of the poor in Palermo and Sicily. He died March 14, 1888, in Palermo, at age 53.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 30, 1983. His feast day is March 14.
