Blessed Gennaro Maria Sarnelli was born on September 23, 1702, in Naples into a noble and devout family. He received a strong Christian formation from an early age.
Early Life
After studying law and practicing as a lawyer for a short time, he felt called to the priesthood. He was ordained in 1732 and soon joined Saint Alphonsus Liguori in the newly founded Redemptorist congregation.
Occupation
Blessed Gennaro dedicated himself to preaching missions, hearing confessions, and works of mercy among the poorest and most abandoned, especially women and girls at risk. He founded shelters and wrote extensively on spiritual and moral topics.
