Blessed Francisca de Ambrosia
Blessed Francisca de Ambrosia (born c. 1418 AD in Lisbon, Portugal; died April 9, 1496 AD in Lisbon, Portugal) was a Portuguese Carmelite tertiary from a noble family of Lisbon who devoted her life to prayer, penance, and charitable service, following the Carmelite way of contemplation while living in the world. She was beatified by Pope Pius XII on May 17, 1942. Her feast day is April 9.

Biography
Francisca de Ambrosia was born c. 1418 in Lisbon, Portugal, into a noble family. She affiliated herself with the Carmelite Order as a tertiary, following the Carmelite way of prayer and contemplation while living in the world.
She devoted her long life to prayer, penance, and charitable service in Lisbon, living in the great tradition of Portuguese Catholic women who found in the Carmelite Third Order a framework for intense spiritual life.
She died April 9, 1496, in Lisbon, one year before the departure of Vasco da Gama's historic voyage to India.
She was beatified by Pope Pius XII on May 17, 1942. Her feast day is April 9.
