Blessed Francis Rogaczewski
Blessed Francis Rogaczewski (born October 25, 1892 AD in Nowa Karczma, Pomerania, Poland; died September 1, 1939 AD in Gdańsk [[[Danzig]]], Poland) was a Polish Catholic diocesan priest from Pomerania who was murdered by the Nazis on the first day of World War II — September 1, 1939 — in Gdańsk (then Danzig), making him among the very first martyrs of the Nazi German persecution of the Catholic Church in Poland. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 13, 1999, in Warsaw, as one of the 108 Martyrs of World War II Poland. His feast day is June 12.

Biography
Francis Rogaczewski was born October 25, 1892, in Nowa Karczma, in the Kashubian region of Pomerania, Poland. He was ordained a diocesan priest for the Diocese of Gdańsk (then Danzig, a Free City under League of Nations protection).
On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland and simultaneously occupied the Free City of Danzig. On the same morning, SS and Gestapo units began executing Polish residents of Gdańsk, targeting Catholic priests, intellectuals, and civic leaders. Father Rogaczewski was among the very first to be killed — murdered on the opening day of World War II.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 13, 1999, in Warsaw, as one of the 108 Martyrs of World War II Poland. His feast day is June 12.
