Blessed Francis Palau y Quer (born May 29, 1811 AD in Aytona, Lleida, Catalonia, Spain; died March 20, 1872 AD in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain) was a Spanish Discalced Carmelite priest from Catalonia who became one of the most prolific apostolic figures of 19th-century Spain, founding apostolic associations, preaching missions, and writing extensively on the Church as the embodiment of the mystical body of Christ. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 18, 1993. His feast day is March 20.

Biography
Francis Palau y Quer was born May 29, 1811, in Aytona, Province of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. He entered the Order of Discalced Carmelites and was ordained a priest.
During the anti-religious liberal persecutions of 19th-century Spain, he was exiled from Spain and worked in France and the Balearic Islands. He returned to Spain and continued his apostolic work, founding associations and writing extensively on the Church as the mystical body of Christ.
His mystical theology centered on the Catholic Church as the supreme object of contemplative love — union with the Church as union with Christ.
He died March 20, 1872, in Tarragona, Catalonia.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 18, 1993. His feast day is March 20.
