Blessed Eustachius van Lieshout
Blessed Eustachius van Lieshout (born March 13, 1890 AD in Aarle-Rixtel, North Brabant, Netherlands; died January 18, 1943 AD in Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais, Brazil) was a Dutch Redemptorist priest who served as a missionary in the interior of Brazil for more than twenty years, working among the poor and isolated populations of the backlands (sertão) of Minas Gerais. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 14, 1998. His feast day is January 18.

Biography
Eustachius van Lieshout was born March 13, 1890, in Aarle-Rixtel, North Brabant, Netherlands. He entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) and was ordained a priest.
He went to Brazil as a missionary and spent more than twenty years evangelizing the interior of Minas Gerais state. He traveled on horseback through the isolated backlands (sertão) of the region, celebrating Mass, administering the sacraments, catechizing, and providing practical assistance — including medical aid — to communities that rarely saw a priest.
He was known for his zeal, his charity, and his total dedication to the mission.
He died January 18, 1943, in Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 14, 1998. His feast day is January 18.
