Biography
Elizabeth Bartholomea Picenardi was born around 1428 in Mantua, Lombardy, into a noble family. She settled in Cremona, where she entered the Third Order of Servants of Mary (Servites), living as a Servite tertiary — a member of the lay third order — rather than in a formal convent.
She devoted herself to intense prayer, mortification, and mystical contemplation, particularly in union with the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the characteristic devotion of the Servite tradition. She also served the poor and sick of Cremona with charitable works.
She died on February 19, 1468, in Cremona.
She was beatified by Pope Pius VII on January 24, 1804. Her feast day is February 19.
