Blessed Dominic Spadafora (born c. 1451 AD in Messina, Sicily, Italy; died October 21, 1521 AD in Palermo, Sicily, Italy) was an Italian Dominican friar from Sicily who served as a preacher and reformer in Sicily and as a companion and admirer of the Dominican reformer Girolamo Savonarola of Florence. He is venerated in the Dominican tradition with a feast on October 21.

Biography

Dominic Spadafora was born around 1451 in Messina, Sicily, into the noble Spadafora family. He entered the Dominican Order and devoted his life to preaching and reform in Sicily.

He was a contemporary and admirer of the Dominican reformer Girolamo Savonarola of Florence and maintained loyalty to Savonarola's memory even after the friar's controversial execution in 1498.

He died October 21, 1521, in Palermo, at approximately 70 years of age. He is venerated in the Dominican tradition with a feast on October 21.
