Blessed Denis Fugiscima
Blessed Denis Fujishima (died September 10, 1622 AD in Nagasaki, Japan) was a Japanese Catholic layman and martyr who was killed during the great persecution of Christians under the Tokugawa shogunate. He was among the martyrs of Nagasaki killed on September 10, 1622 — the same day as the Great Martyrdom of Nagasaki, one of the largest single-day executions of Christians in the history of the Japanese persecutions. He was beatified by Pope Urban VIII. His feast day is September 10.

Biography
Denis Fujishima was a Japanese Catholic layman of the Kirishitan (Christian) community in 17th-century Japan. He lived during the great persecution of Christians under the Tokugawa shogunate, which sought to completely exterminate Christianity from the Japanese islands.
On September 10, 1622, he was executed at Nagasaki as part of the Great Martyrdom of Nagasaki — a mass execution of 55 Catholics, including priests, brothers, and laypeople. He refused to apostatize from the Catholic faith and was killed for his belief.
He was beatified by Pope Urban VIII with the other martyrs of the Great Martyrdom of Nagasaki. His feast day is September 10.
