Blessed Conrad of Heisterbach
Blessed Conrad of Heisterbach (dates uncertain; died c. 1200 AD at Heisterbach Abbey, Rhineland, Germany) was a German Cistercian monk at Heisterbach Abbey in the Siebengebirge hills above the Rhine, south of Cologne. He is venerated in the Cistercian tradition for his holiness and contemplative life. Heisterbach Abbey is famous in the history of Catholic legend as the site of the story of "the Monk of Heisterbach" — the monk who went into the forest while meditating on eternity and returned to find that 300 years had passed. His feast day is November 15.
