Blessed Caterina Cittadini
Blessed Caterina Cittadini (born August 6, 1801 AD in Somasca, Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy; died May 5, 1857 AD in Somasca, Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian religious sister who founded the Ursuline Sisters of Somasca — a congregation dedicated to the Christian education of girls — in Somasca in the Bergamo province of Lombardy. Born and buried in the same small village of Somasca (the town that gave its name to the Somascan Fathers, founded by Saint Jerome Emiliani in 1534), she devoted her entire life to the education of poor girls in that one community, founding her congregation in 1831 and guiding it until her death. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 27, 2001. Her feast day is May 5.

Biography
Caterina Cittadini was born August 6, 1801, in Somasca — the small Bergamasco village where Saint Jerome Emiliani had founded the Somascan Fathers for orphans and the poor in 1534. She spent her entire life in this one village.
In 1831 she founded the Ursuline Sisters of Somasca for the Christian education of poor girls. She guided the congregation for 26 years, never leaving the village where she was born.
She died May 5, 1857, in Somasca, at the age of 55. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 27, 2001. Her feast day is May 5.
