Blessed Caroline Kozka
Blessed Karolina Kózka (born August 2, 1898 AD in Wał-Ruda, Galicia, Poland; died November 18, 1914 AD in Wał-Ruda, Galicia, Poland) was a Polish Catholic laywoman — a teenage peasant girl from the Galician village of Wał-Ruda — who was killed by a Russian soldier during World War I while defending her chastity. She is venerated as a martyr of chastity in the tradition of Saint Maria Goretti (1890–1902) — killed in Italy twelve years before Karolina for the same defense of her purity. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Tarnów, Poland, on June 10, 1987, the feast of Corpus Christi, during his third pastoral visit to Poland. Her feast day is November 18.

Biography
Karolina Kózka was born August 2, 1898, in Wał-Ruda (now Kózki) in Austrian Galicia — the fourth of eleven children in a devout Polish Catholic farming family. She was a quiet, deeply pious teenager who lived the ordinary life of a Galician peasant girl.
In November 1914, just four months into World War I, Russian troops occupied Wał-Ruda. A Russian soldier attempted to sexually assault Karolina. She resisted, fled into the nearby forest, and was killed. Her body was found weeks later.
She died November 18, 1914, at the age of 16.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Tarnów on June 10, 1987 — during his third pastoral visit to Communist Poland. The village of Wał-Ruda was later renamed Kózki in her honor. Her feast day is November 18.
