Blessed Caritas Brader
Blessed Caritas Brader (born May 14, 1860 AD in Kaltbrunn, Canton of Saint Gallen, Switzerland; died February 27, 1943 AD in Pasto, Colombia) was a Swiss Franciscan religious sister — born Josepha Hendrina Brader — who spent her entire missionary life in South America, founded the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate in Pasto, Colombia (1893), and dedicated over fifty years to the education and care of the indigenous peoples and poor of Colombia, Ecuador, and neighboring regions. Known for her tender devotion to the Eucharist and to Mary, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Bogotá on July 9, 1995. Her feast day is February 27.

Biography
Josepha Hendrina Brader was born May 14, 1860, in Kaltbrunn in the Canton of Saint Gallen, Switzerland. She entered religious life as a Franciscan sister, receiving the name Caritas.
She went to South America as a missionary and arrived in Pasto, Colombia, in 1888. In 1893 she founded the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate in Pasto for the education and evangelization of the indigenous peoples and poor of the southern Colombian Andes.
She spent over fifty years in Pasto, guiding her congregation and serving the most vulnerable. She was known for her tender devotion to the Eucharist and to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
She died February 27, 1943, in Pasto. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Bogotá on July 9, 1995. Her feast day is February 27.
