Blessed Bruna Pellesi
Blessed Bruna Pellesi (born July 17, 1927 AD in Pievepelago, Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy; died September 24, 1957 AD in Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy) was an Italian laywoman, member of the secular Franciscan Order, and catechist who died at age 30 after years of illness borne with heroic patience and spiritual joy — offering her suffering for the salvation of souls in the spirit of the Catholic tradition of redemptive suffering. Born in the Apennine mountains of the Modena province, she worked as a catechist and lived as a Franciscan tertiary, experiencing serious illness (presumed tuberculosis) for much of her short life and transforming that suffering into a gift for others. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 1999. Her feast day is September 24.

Biography
Bruna Pellesi was born July 17, 1927, in Pievepelago in the Apennine mountains of the Modena province, Emilia-Romagna. She became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order (Franciscan tertiary) and served as a catechist in her community.
She suffered from serious illness — reportedly tuberculosis — for much of her short life. She bore this illness with extraordinary spiritual joy and patience, consciously offering her suffering "for souls" in the Catholic tradition of redemptive suffering united to the Cross of Christ. Her letters and spiritual writings during her illness document a rich interior life.
She died September 24, 1957, in Modena, at the age of 30.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 1999. Her feast day is September 24.
