Blessed Bernardina Maria Jablonska
Blessed Bernardina Maria Jablonska (born August 5, 1878 in Pizuny, Galicia, Poland [present-day Ukraine]; died September 23, 1940 in Kraków, Poland) was a Polish Franciscan religious who co-founded the Albertine Sisters alongside Blessed Brother Albert Chmielowski and dedicated her life to the service of the homeless, destitute, and marginalized poor. She was beatified on June 6, 1997 by Pope John Paul II in Kraków during one of his pastoral visits to Poland. Her feast day is September 23.

Biography
Bernardina Maria Jablonska was born on August 5, 1878 in Pizuny in Galicia. She felt called to consecrated life and became associated with Blessed Brother Albert Chmielowski (Adam Chmielowski), a Polish painter turned Franciscan layman who had founded shelters for the homeless in Kraków. Together they worked to develop a women's religious congregation to extend this work of hospitality to the poorest and most abandoned.
Brother Albert was beatified in 1983 and canonized in 1989 by Pope John Paul II—himself a Pole who had great devotion to Albert and based a play on his life. Bernardina served as the first superior general of the Albertine Sisters and guided the congregation through its founding and early development. She served the destitute for decades, dying on September 23, 1940 in Kraków during the German occupation of Poland.
She was beatified on June 6, 1997 during Pope John Paul II's pastoral visit to Poland, one of a group of Polish blesseds honored on that occasion.
