Blessed Beatrix Deste
Blessed Beatrix d'Este (born c. 1191 AD in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy; died May 10, 1226 AD in Este, Veneto, Italy) was an Italian Benedictine nun of the illustrious Este dynasty who is venerated as a blessed for her holiness of life. Born into the powerful Este family of Ferrara, she renounced the wealth and prestige of her noble birth to enter the Benedictine convent of Solarolo near Ferrara. She died on May 10, 1226. She is one of several blessed members of the Este family. Her feast day is May 10.

Biography
Beatrix d'Este was born around 1191 in Ferrara into the Este dynasty — one of the most powerful noble families of northern Italy. She renounced the worldly life of the Este court and entered a Benedictine convent near Ferrara.
She lived a life of monastic prayer, penance, and contemplation. She died May 10, 1226 — the same year as the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
She is venerated as a blessed in the Este family and Benedictine tradition. She is sometimes called "the Elder" to distinguish her from Blessed Beatrix d'Este the Younger (c. 1226–1262), who was also a Benedictine nun of the Este family.
