Blessed Augustine Ota (died September 10, 1622 AD in Nagasaki, Japan) was a Japanese layman martyred during the great persecution of Christianity in Japan in the early 17th century. He was among the 205 Martyrs of Japan — the group martyred between 1617 and 1632 — who were beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on November 24, 2008, in Nagasaki, Japan. His feast day is September 10.

Biography
Augustine Ota was a Japanese Catholic layman martyred during the great persecution of Christianity in Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate. He was executed on September 10, 1622, in Nagasaki, during the "Great Martyrdom" in which 55 Christians were killed simultaneously — 30 beheaded and 25 burned alive at the stake.
He was one of the 205 Martyrs of Japan — a group of Japanese and foreign martyrs who died for the Catholic faith between 1617 and 1632, during the most intense period of the Tokugawa persecution of Christianity.
He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on November 24, 2008, in Nagasaki.
