Blessed Augustine Gazotich
Blessed Augustine Kažotić (Augustine Gazotich), O.P. (born c. 1260 AD in Trogir, Dalmatia, Croatia; died August 3, 1323 AD in Lucera, Apulia, Italy) was a Croatian Dominican bishop who served as Bishop of Zagreb (Croatia) and later as Bishop of Lucera (Italy). Born in the Dalmatian city of Trogir (Latin: Tragurium), he joined the Dominican Order, was appointed Bishop of Zagreb by Pope Boniface VIII (1303), and was later transferred to the Diocese of Lucera in Italy (1322). He was known for his pastoral zeal, his efforts at reform, his charitable work, and his deep spirituality. He was beatified by Pope Urban VIII in 1631. His feast day is August 3.

Biography
Augustine Kažotić was born around 1260 in Trogir (Tragurium), a Dalmatian city on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, into the noble Kažotić family. He entered the Dominican Order and became a friar preacher.
He was appointed Bishop of Zagreb by Pope Boniface VIII in 1303 and served there for 19 years, working for the reform of the Croatian Church, the care of the poor, and the building up of the diocese's institutions.
In 1322 he was transferred to the Diocese of Lucera in Apulia, southern Italy — a city recently restored to Christianity after a long period of Muslim settlement under Frederick II. He died there just one year later, on August 3, 1323.
He was beatified by Pope Urban VIII in 1631.
