Blessed Archangela Girlani
Blessed Archangela Girlani (born c. 1460 AD in Trino, Piedmont, Italy; died February 13, 1495 AD in Mantua, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian Discalced Carmelite nun and prioress renowned for her mystical gifts, contemplative prayer, and supernatural phenomena. Born in Trino in Piedmont into the noble Girlani family, she became a Carmelite nun and eventually the founding prioress of the Carmelite monastery in Mantua, invited there by the Gonzaga rulers. She died in Mantua at approximately age 35 and was beatified by Pope Leo X in 1517. Her feast day is February 13.

Biography
Archangela Girlani was born around 1460 in Trino in Piedmont into the noble Girlani family. She entered the Discalced Carmelite monastery in Parma, where she professed her vows and became known for her holiness and mystical gifts.
The Gonzaga rulers of Mantua invited her to found a new Carmelite monastery in their city. She went to Mantua as founding prioress and lived there until her death.
She was known for her contemplative prayer, her spiritual gifts (including reported ecstasies and supernatural phenomena), and her guidance of her sisters as prioress.
She died February 13, 1495, in Mantua, at approximately age 35. She was beatified by Pope Leo X in 1517 — just 22 years after her death — reflecting the depth of her cult.
