Blessed Antonia Mesina
Blessed Antonia Mesina (born June 21, 1919 AD in Orgosolo, Sardinia, Italy; died May 17, 1935 AD in Orgosolo, Sardinia, Italy) was a Sardinian girl martyr who died at the age of 15 defending her chastity. The eldest daughter of a large family in the mountain village of Orgosolo (in the Nuoro province of Sardinia), she was attacked and killed by a young man when she resisted his assault. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 4, 1987. Her feast day is May 17.

Biography
Antonia Mesina was born June 21, 1919, in Orgosolo, a mountain village in the Barbagia region of Sardinia. She was the eldest of eleven children in a deeply Catholic family and was an active member of Catholic Action youth.
On May 17, 1935, she went with a friend to collect firewood in the forest above Orgosolo. She was attacked by a young man who attempted to assault her. She fought back and was beaten to death with a stone. She was 15 years old.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 4, 1987.
